Our staff holds some of the highest credentials in CrossFit and is dedicated to constantly improving their knowledge and tools to give you the best hour of your day!

Andy Hendel

Owner, Level 4 Certified CrossFit Coach

In 2006, Coach Andy opened Carolina's first CrossFit Box and affiliate, CrossFit Charlotte. He is the original owner and coach to this date.

Andy has the highest credentials offered to CrossFit Trainers (CCFC L-4). He wears the Red Shirt on the CrossFit Seminar Staff as a Level 1 Instructor. Andy started his coaching career as a collegiate and high school football coach before opening CrossFit Charlotte and dedicating his coaching skills to health and fitness. Andy is a graduate of NC. State, class of “83, and played professional football in the USFL and NFL playing for the Jacksonville Bulls and Miami Dolphins.

Taylor Self

Head Coach, Level 3 Certified CrossFit Trainer

Taylor found CrossFit in 2017. From the first workout, he knew he had found something that would change his life forever.

Taylor is the owner of Sentinel Training Program, a competitive athlete, and has completed several gymnastics and weightlifting seminars. He is always working to improve his knowledge and expertise as a trainer and helping others do the same.

Rachel Jeffway

General Manager, Level 3 Certified CrossFit Trainer

Rachel started CrossFit after her final season as a college softball player in 2015. Born and

raised in Colorado, she moved to Boston, MA in 2016 and started coaching at Reebok CrossFit One where she learned from some of CrossFit’s finest coaches. She believes the best part of CrossFit is discovering what your body is truly capable of no matter your age, gender, or size.

Rachel has completed numerous seminars including Gymnastics and Aerobic Capacity. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher and mom to son, Jace, and golden retriever, Bruce.

Bryson DelMonte

Level 3 Certified CrossFit Trainer

Bryson found CrossFit in 2019 after watching Josh Bridges win “Murph” in the 2016 CrossFit Games documentary. He became obsessed immediately and knew he wanted to shape his lifestyle and work to be able to spread the CrossFit methodology to as many people as possible.


Since then, Bryson has become a Level 3 CrossFit trainer, assistant coach of Sentinel Training, and dog dad to the best dog to ever exist (Eddie DelMonte).

BraNSon Dewese

Level 3 Certified CrossFit Trainer

Branson started CrossFit in 2012 and began using it as a way to train for soccer. He joined an affiliate while in college at Marshall University pursuing his passion for fitness by earning a degree in exercise science. Branson has been coaching CrossFit since 2016.


Outside of the gym, he is a flight nurse in the Air Force Reserves and a Registered Nurse at

various emergency departments across Charlotte.

Chloe Davidson

Level 2 CrossFit Coach

Chloe started CrossFit in Boone during college in 2020. She is a competitive athlete with big dreams and goals. She is willing to try anything new.


She studied Exercise Science in college and interned with the Appalachian State Strength and Conditioning Program. She has been coaching Strength and Conditioning for 1 1⁄2 years and CrossFit for 3 years. She is a Level 2 coach.

Boomer Alred

Level 2 CrossFit Coach

Boomer has been part of the CrossFit Charlotte community since 2010. He is a four time EMMY award winning filmmaker with over 30 years of experience in that field. Aside from his camera work, Boomer is a certified Mental Toughness Coach and works with individuals and companies to find their true potential through a positive mindset.


In 2015, Boomer and Coach Andy secured SealFit’s Kokoro camp. In 2018, Boomer did

100,000 burpees to raise money and awareness for Vets with PTSD. Boomer also spends his free time as a Certified Pickleball Coach.

Greg Clewis

Level 2 CrossFit Coach

oach Clewis has over 33 years of service and professional experience as a teacher and

coach. He retired from Myers Park High School in 2011 after serving as the Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach. He began his CrossFit journey in 2010, and most recently finished 11th at the CrossFit Games in 2021 in the Men's 65+ division.


He is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer and has been coaching for over 10 years.

Dina Hendel

Co-Owner, Level 2 CrossFit Coach

Dina started Crossfit in 2006 when she and Andy opened in 2006. She received her Level 1 and Level 2 as well as Kids Crossfit, Gymnastics, and Nutrition certificates over the years.


As the unofficial “social chair” she brings pep to every person she talks to. She’s a great coach and an even better Grandma.
